On March 16, 2012, the Strangelove crew brought NYC the second installment of their new event.   Headlining an all around great evening was none other than Kevin Yost (i Records) with a Live Performance.  Kevin recorded the evening and Forward Disco presents this recording as Episode 014 of the podcast.  This was truly an amazing set of music, and watching Kevin create this Live was truly something spectacular.

In Kevin's own words "I actually have to create the vibe from nothing and make it work. Im not really there to perform as much as I am to make the people dance. Its very different from djing because you are basically naked up there and have to fend for yourself and convince the people to groove to what your creating live. I love the challenge and I hope people dig what im trying to do which is give them something unique and fresh for each show." Here is your chance to relive/experience the Kevin Yost Live Performance.  For an interview with Kevin and more details on Strangelove check out the new forwarddisco.com

Forward Disco presents episode 010 of the podcast. For this mix, we bring along another veteran of the NYC scene, Richie Cuts. Recently you may have heard Richie Cuts playing one of his "Vs" sets alongside past Forward Disco guest, Mike Terra. You can catch one of their next vs set at Stay on August 20 for our next Forward Disco event.
In fact - we will let Mike introduce you to Richie:

If you've been frequenting NYC's underground electronic music scene then chances are you've heard the name Richie Cuts already. For those who haven't yet, here is a a little type up to get you up to date on the bearded legend!
Always a fan of music with a soul, Richie would tell you he wasn't always a techno junky. What started as a love for Hip-Hop groups like Gangstarr, The Beatnuts, Wu-Tang, Erik B & Rakim.. (the usual lineup that most music lovers cant deny once blasting on the radio) ended up influencing his sound into what its become today. Richie discovered his new attraction to electronic music around the age of 19 while experiencing the new sound around NYC's legendary clubs.
Today you can find him making crowds move all around New York's scene! He's played alongside acts like Simon Baker, John Selway, Tony Rohr and many more! I've had the pleasure of spinning B2B with him on numerous occasions and this dude will pull some hidden dancefloor weapon out of nowhere! Ranging anywhere from techno to deep house, minimal or even something strangely resembling 90s hip-hopl, he'll keep you thinking of a genre to label him in. Trust me it's not an easy task!
Recently Richie began experimenting with production and you can expect to start hearing some of his tunes while out in the near future! It doesn't seem like the man with the golden beard will be letting up any time soon! To learn more about Richie Cuts just hit up one of his next sets and it'll do more justice than my shitty write up!
-Mike Terra

Forward Disco 007 - Lula Circus
June 01, 2011 06:53 AM PDT
itunes pic

Forward Disco presents Episode 007 of the podcast. For this episode we have the extremely talented duo of Lula Circus from Italy lending us an amazing deep house journey.

Lula Circus is a “house oriented” electronic music project started in October 2008 by two Italian producers. The anonymous nature of its concept wants to put the focus entirely on the sound (crisp, brilliant, hybrid, with house influences and cool grove) by keeping the real identity of the two producers a secret. A bet, a game, just like in a Lynch circus where captivating music drags into far-away trips.

In April 2009, Lula Circus produced their first split 12” release “Charlotte Boulevard” with French dOP and a remix by D’Julz for the french label CHILDREN OF TOMORROW. In August 2009, they produced their first vinyl for the well-renowed German label RESOPAL SCHALLWARE (“Circus Part1”). The growing interest in the German market leads in the next months to the release of other three vinyls (“Las Vegas Story” for HERTZ IST TRUMPF in October 2009, “Yoko Emoshon” for BROUQADE in February 2010 and “Blumenholz” for ACKER in March 2010). More recently their work has been featured on Back and Forth, Ostwind, Catwash and Brouqade. The summer of 2011 is looking bright for Lula Circus with a recent vinyl only release on Render Obedience and what is sure to be a massive release, 'Miami Vices' on NYC based label Stranjjur (headed by Kev Obrien and AB Logic) with a remix from the man of the moment, MANIK.

Their tracks are played by the most famous djs, including Villalobos, Loco Dice, Reboot, Karotte, Italoboyz, Tobi Neumann…(and of course, the Forward Disco residents!)

Enjoy the music and please support the artists!
